The Fast and Furious franchise has come a long way from 2001 to become one of the most successful car racing, action packed series. The series mainly consists of street races with a story behind everything. Over the years, the story has changed greatly introducing more action than car races in some cases. Fast and Furious 7 is a prime example of this and is in my opinion, one of the best in the series.
This movie is more fast and furious than any other in the series. It has brought back many old characters into the movie and also has introduced a few new ones. These additions to the franchise allow the movie to extend its story with more new and exciting scenes. For example Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw) being the new villain seeking revenge for his brother’s death in the previous movie.
Unfortunately, Paul Walker (Brian O’ Connor) had passed away half way filming Fast & Furious 7 and this led the movie to be delayed until April 2015. Luckily, the franchise did not ‘kill’ Paul Walker’s character, they decided to keep him in the movie using special CGI technology. This allowed filming of the movie to continue.
The story of the movie is rather complex but easy to understand if you have watched the previous ones. Fast and Furious 7 is the sequel to Fast & Furious 6 and is in some way connected to Tokyo Drift. After Dominic Toretto’s crew had killed the villain Owen Shaw in Fast & Furious 6, Shaw’s ‘big bad brother’ is back to seek revenge. As everyone in the crew has now moved on in their life and retired, they are forced to work together again as a team and take down Deckard Shaw in order to live normal lives again. Another main reason for Dominics crew to take down Shaw is because he killed one of the crew members in Tokyo Drift. This connects to Fast & Furious 7 as both movies technically take place during the same period of time.
The movie will then take you on a journey showing the obstacles the crew must encounter to defeat Shaw and these are action packed scenes which involve a lot of fast cars and guns. If you are into movies with action and a storyline, I advise you to watch it, as it will take you on a fast, furious but also an emotional ride!
PS. If you have not seen all the other Fast & Furious movies, it will be a little more difficult to understand the complete storyline, but you can still watch the movie and enjoy it.
